Tier 2 supports investigator-led research projects in the AUs. This will nurture and sustain a healthy ecosystem with a critical mass of research-active faculty and allow for greater agility in their pursuit of the best ideas.

Tier 3 supports high-impact research that are larger in scale and more ambitious in scope. These programmes will augment AUs' research capacities in pursuing research excellence and/or enable the development of expertise in key thematic areas.
